1930s Wolfgang Hoffmann Art Deco Springer Chair - for Howell

Emigrating from Europe to the United States, Wolfgang Hoffman established himself as a premier intrepreter of art deco and streamlined design.  After a successful business designing furniture in the 1920s for private clients out of his Manhattan office, he was commissioned to work on furntiure for the 1933 World's Fair in Chicago.  He stayed in the Chicago area after the Fair, becoming resident designer for the Howell Corporation and entering into a his most prolific design period.

One of Hoffmann's most iconic designs in this springer chair, which he designed while at Howell.

The chair belies its thick guage steel base and steel/alumnimum frame by appearing to float in space.  The chair is extremely comfortable and, if desired, can gently rock back and forth (hence the name "springer").

The chair is in excellent original condition.  The tweed upholstery appears to be original and is in oustanding condition - no holes or smells.  The chrome is excellent as well, with just minor wear.

Signed Howell on the seat frame.

Dimensions:  35" high x 28" deep x 23" wide.

A wonderful piece of high quality art deco furniture from a leading designer.

$325

Vintage Milo Baughman Chrome & Glass Cantilvered Nesting Tables

Gotcha Modern! is happy to present a wonderful set of nesting tables designed by Milo Baughman, one of the premier designers of mid century furnishings.

Not surprisingly, this set is very high quality - thick chromed steel frames with with glass inserts that are 1/4" thick. Very heavy and substantial.

The tables are in excellent vintage condition. The chrome is bright and shiny with no major pitting. The glass tables are excellent, too, with one having an extremely small chip on one side. Nearly all of the felt "cushions" inside the cantilevered protrusions are intact (just one is missing).

Dimensions:  22 1/2" deep and 20" wide.

A wonderful and distinctive design!

SOLD.  Thanks, Enya @ Chicago!

Pair of 1970s Mid Century Black & White Ribbed Floor Lamps w/ Glass Table

This pair of lamps is so......so......funky cool!  Ask yourself:  have you ever seen lamps like this?  That's what we thought!

Gotcha Modern! is pleased to present this phenomenal pair of 1970s lamps - most certainly in the manner of famous mid century lighting designers Tommi Parzinger, Karl Springer, et al.

The ribbed column is made of wood - and both retain nearly all of their original paint.  The base of the lamp is shiny chromed steel, as is the neck (from the end of the ribbed column to the socket).  In the middle of the column is a thick glass table.

The lamps are in excellent vintage condition.  The chrome is bright and shiny, and the glass tables are in great condition (save for a very small chip on the side of one).  The shades are different (not sure if one is original?) and one finial is missing.

The lamps have three way switches and work well.

57" high x 16" diameter (glass table).

Suffice to say, they are guaranteed conversation starters!

SOLD.  Thanks, Patricia @ Chicago!
