Paul McCobb Maple Side Table w/ Glass Shelf - Connoisseur Collection

Happy New Year from Gotcha Modern!

Ok, so it's a bit belated.  We sheepishly admit that we took an extended hibernation over the winter.  But, now that spring is finally upon us, we're ready to showcase some wonderful pieces to help put a spring in your step (um, pun intended!).

First up is a fine - and rather scarce - table designed by Paul McCobb.  McCobb's designs are practical, graceful, and the epitome of 1950s and 60s mid century design.

This table is from his Connoisseur Collection for H. Sacks and Sons.  Most of McCobb's designs for this line featured brass "X" stretchers for the legs.  This particular model retains the brass collars around each leg, but the stretchers are replaced with a much more practical glass shelf.  Notice the bow-tie supports under the table top - an example of McCobb's understated design.  Tapered legs.  A single drawer.

The table is in good condition, with some scuffs on the legs and surface scuffs/spots (as can be seen in the pictures).  The glass is excellent condition, and drawer slides easily and smoothly.

Dimensions:  24" W x 30" L x 21 1/4 H

A wonderful designer table in a scarce form.

1950s Eames-Esque Fiberglass Bucket Arm Chair. Great Graining!

Yet another 1950s fiberglass bucket chair (it has been the year of vintage fiberglass chairs!)
Mid century enthusiasts look for and prize fiberglass chairs that have strong "graining," where you can easily see the fibers in the molded plastic.

This example has perhaps the finest graining I've run across - partly owing, of course, to it's tan/creme color.  Suffice to say, it pops - loud!

Excellent condition, with just one rubber foot missing.

Take it home today!

$60

Vintage Selig Mid Century Lounge Chair - The Eames Alternative

Gotcha Modern! loves these Selig lounge chairs (it's the second one we've sourced in less than a year), particularly because it's an iconic mid century design that is affordable. The similar design by Charles Eames for Herman Miller will set you back $3-4K, and while for many the love of great mid century design runs deep, it doesn't run a few thousand dollars deep for a lounge chair.

Selig - a noted and well-regarded company that produced and distributed great mid-century furniture back in the day, some of it by top Danish designers, realized that Mr. Eames had a pretty good thing going with his lounge chair for Herman Miller. So, they joined the party and designed their own version.

The chair features a bentwood frame with steel supports and base. An adjustable recline mechanism on the underside of the chair allows you to adjust the chair to your preference. The original upholstery is an olive pleather.

Excellent vintage condition. There is a very small tear beginning at one of the buttons on the seats, and a couple small ones on the ottoman (could certainly be used as-is or reinforced - I'll let the new owner make that decision).

Chair: 32" wide, 38" high, 32" deep. Ottoman: 21" long, 17" wide, 15" high.

Best of all, this chair is comfortable with a capital "C!" Sit in it once, and you won't want to get up. Honest.

SOLD.  Thanks, Angela @ Chicago!
