Large 1970s Pop Art Andy Warhol-inspired Painting of a Woman

The first thing that attracted me to this painting was the joyous expression on the woman's face.  Kind of contagious, no?  You look at the painting and feel happy.

And then which end do you look at?  Simple but sophisticated.

The painting is large.  51" x 18".  Oil on canvas.  Signed "t h n".

Feel the joy!

SOLD.  Thanks, Ben @ Chicago!

1960s Lucite Icicle Hanging Pendant Lamp

We may be well into spring, but the lucite panels in this lamp remind one of iclicles dangling from a roof - all surrounded by 4 lights.

Straight from the 60s/70s, the lamp features thick panels of lucite.  Excellent overall condition - no chips or cracks.  The lamp works well, and included is a cord/chain that is about 6 feet long.

It's ready to hang and enjoy.

Dimensions:  14" wide and 12" high.

SOLD.  Thanks, Chandra @ Berkeley, California!

West German Modern Side Chairs - Hartmut Lohmeyer Design

Add a punch of German pre-unification design to your interior decor with a pair (or several pairs) of Strax Casala chairs by German designer Hartmut Lohmeyer.  Born in 1923, Lohmeyer was an architect and furniture designer.  He used a variety of materials in his furniture designs, including teak, cane, and plastic.  He is perhaps best known for his "400" arm chair, manufactured by noted German design firm Wilkhahn.

Gotcha Modern! has sourced eight (8) of these chairs, four in orange and four in a chocolate brown (only two are shown in the pictures below).  Sold individually or in pairs.  Take one pair or all four!

The chair features a comfortable curvelinear seat and back made of a strong and thick plastic.  A beechwood frame provifdes a nice and interesting contrast to the color of the plastic.  A gentle taper to the legs adds a touch of sophistication.  Signed on the bottom of the seat.

The chairs are stackable for easy storage (if needed).  Dimensions: 20 1/2" W, 22" D, 30" H

Very good original condition.  Chairs have light scuffing to the bottom of the legs, and some have lights scuffs to the plastic, but they are very presentable.

These functional chairs can serve a myriad of uses in a design-conscious decor, and with the right table could serve as a terrific set of dining chairs (easy to clean).

$80 per pair (you choose the colors!).  Gotcha Modern is pleased to offer a discount if you'd like more than two chairs.

SOLD.  Thanks, Maria & thanks, Sarah @ Chicago!

Myrtle's 1930s Goodform Office Swivel Chair

Myrtle's chair needs a new home.

Gotcha Modern! presents an excellent example of office days gone by - a 1930s Goodform office chair. These chairs were the creme de la creme of their day - extremely well constructed and functional - indeed, the chair is as usable today as it was 80 years ago.  With their durable and utilitarian - yet stylish - streamlined design, Goodfrom chairs have become sought after among collectors.

33" H, 17 1/2" W, 18" D.

Steel and aluminum construction throughout, with original dark green vinyl upholstery on the seat and back.  Four wheels underneath the streamlined aluminum four point base.  Adjustable seat.  Outstanding vintage condition.  Goodform tag on the back of the chair, alongside side Myrtle's name.

SOLD.  Thanks, William @ Chicago!

Monumental 1960s Floor Lamp - Clover Lamp. Co.

If you wish to make a statement in lighting your abode, this lamp is it.

Standing over five tall (65" to be exact), the lamp features a flat piece of thick steel that gracefully arcs upward from the base.  The intended design effect is that shade appears to almost float above the base

The base in steel over a large cast iron weighting plate.  The lamp is signed "Clover Lamp Company" in three different places on the underside of the base, with the (assumed) product number of H-11-13.

Clover Lamp Company designed high quality commerical and residential lamps in the 1960s and 70s and are known for their unusual and Italian-inspired design.  Many of their designs take after similar work in Italian lighting firms such Reggiani and Arteluce.

The lamp is in excellent condition and works well.  The lamp was acquired with the shade shown, which may or may not be original to the lamp.

SOLD.  Thanks, Bob @ Highland Park!

Pair of Tubular Chrome Art Deco Side Chairs

With their elegant functionality, one can easily imagine these stylish chairs the product of Bauhaus designers in the 1920/30s.

These would make wonderful side chairs - perhaps in a bedroom or corner of a room.

Several design features standout on these examples: the rounded triangular seat, inward-turned legs reflecting the guitar-pick profile of the seat, and gentle angular back.

Made of tubular chromed steel with a wood seat and back covered with original dark green vinyl upholstery.  One maker's mark still exists on one chair, but is illegible.

Dimensions:  30" H, 15" W, 15 1/2" D.

Structurally sound.  While the original upholstery is servicable, the chairs should be reupholstered in the fabric of your choice.  Upon the buyer's request, Gotcha Modern! will be happy to recommend an excellent (and very affordable) upholstery firm skilled in vintage modern furniture.

SOLD.  Thanks, Brenda @ Chicago!

Curvaceous Danish Modern Walnut Tulip Lamp

Just in time for spring is a 1960s Danish tulip lamp with walnut petals that adorn frosted glass globes. The gracefully winding stem of the lamp is brass. The flower stems are brass, too. The lamp is over five feet tall at 66" in height. Solid cast iron base with a faux walnut top.  The lamp is solid and heavy.

The switch offers three lighting options. The first option lights two of the four bulbs. The second option lights the other two of the four bulbs. The third option lights all bulbs.

Outstanding vintage condition. The glass globes are fully intact with no cracks or chips, and the lamp works perfectly. A vintage piece you can use and admire immediately.

This is an impressive lamp, gives off a warm soft glow, and would look stunning with modern decor. A guaranteed conversation starter.

Thanks, Sigrid @ Madison, WI!

Paul Frankl? Mid Century Interlocking Sofa (+Free Delivery!)

For your consideration is an outstanding mid-century sofa that came from an estate filled with furnishings by renowned 20th century design icon Paul Frankl.  The sofa is not signed.
The sofa's back and seat are removable from the frame, and they "interlock" to assemble the piece. The sofa's extremely solid wood frame is either maple or birch, and features large dovetail joinery.  The arms feature a subtle concave curvature from front to back.  The legs of the sofa are angular and tapered in classic mid century style. Two pillows are included.

The sofa is in very good overall vintage condition. The fabric is a blue/white tweed that appears to be original. The foam is still plush and very comfortable. There are a couple stains on the seat of the sofa where an article was left sitting, and in imprint has formed. The frame of the sofa has some small normal wear scratches (primarily on the arms). The sofa came from an estate with no kids and no pets, and there are no abnormal smells.

The piece measures 74" long, 30" high, and 35" deep.  Enjoy this fantastic example of mid century design!

Gotcha Modern! kindly offers free delivery of the sofa within a 20 mile radius of zip code 60625.

SOLD.  Thanks, Scott @ Chicago!

Read under it, relax in its soft glow, admire the simple lines, or let it transport the icons of modern design to your room, and engage in stimulating conversation of the imagination.
