Set of 4 Streamlined Mid Century Chrome Dining Chairs - Wolfgang Hoffman?

Wolfgang Hoffmann was an Austrian designer who emigrated to the United States in 1925 and designed custom furniture for wealthy clients.  He helped develop building designs for the 1933 World's Fair, which brought him to the attention of the Howell Company, which was headquartered in Geneva, Illinois (and later St. Charles, IL) and designed and manufactured furniture.  Hoffman became resident designer for nearly a decade, and produced a large body of work in the art deco and streamlined aesthetic that often incorporated flat and tubular chromed steel.

This fantastic set of dining chairs is certainly in Hoffmann's style, with their tubular chromed steel frames, graceful streamlined design, and pleasing proportions.

The chairs feature a black-laquered backrest with a a wicker center, and a round vinyl seat.  The set is in oustanding vintage condition - no rips, tears, or breaks.  There is the slightest bit of tarnish to the top of one chair, but apart from the condition of the chrome is excellent.

Note:  there is a fifth chair to the set, but the wicker needs to be repaired.  The fifth chair will be included with the set!

Add a dose of streamlined panache to your dining decor with this sleek and modern set of chairs!

Sold.  Thanks, Rosemary @ Chicago!

Lawrence Peabody Selig Fiberglass Wingback Arm Chair

Gotcha Modern! has recently sourced two fantastic Lawrence Peabody 1950s wingback fiberglass chairs.  Previously listed was the rocking chair, and this is the stationary model.

Peabody's design is more commanding presence than other fiberglass chairs of the period, and gives a nod to the highback chairs of centuries past.

This example has wonderful - if a bit weathered - graining.  All shock mounts are original and present.

A nice example of 50s fiberglass design by an underrrated American designer.

SOLD.  Thanks, Eden @ Chicago!

Argentina Mid Century Cantilevered Side Table

You know how sometimes you have the best intentions to finish a project, but you never get around to it?

Case in point in this wonderful little side table that was sourced from Buenos Aires, Argentina.  The best intention was to refinish table, replace glass top, and voila! - a gorgeous addition to the decor.

Alas, the only action that happened was stripping the old varnish and lightly sanding it.  However, it's ready for your special touch!  You just need to oil/stain it and replace the glass, and voila! - well, you get the hint.

The table has a wonderful form and cantilevered construction that is typical of 1950s furniture from Argentina.

A Gotcha Modern! handyperson special.

Sold.  Thanks, Andrew @ Chicago!

Canadian Mid Century Streamlined Bent Plywood Upholstered Side Chair

Gotcha Modern! sourced a few of these chairs in 2012, and a pair (just like the one shown) were sold within hours of them being listed.

With it's sleek and modernsit design, this chair can definitely stand by itself - indeed, a single chair might make a greater statement than two.  Less can be more!

The chair's arms and legs are made out of solid (and I mean solid!) maple, while the seat and back are bent plywood.  The salmon-colored leatherette upholstery is in good condition, although it could use a good cleaning (and is an easy reupholster job if you are so inclined).

Bet you don't find another one of these south-of-the-border (unless you're friends with the client who picked up the pair last year!).

SOLD.  Thanks, Tim and Anne from Des Plaines!

22" diameter and 15" high.

SOLD.  Thanks, Julie @ Chicago!

Mid Century Italian Marble Coffee / Console Table - Long & Low!

Add a sophisticated dash of continental style to your abode with this wonderful mid century coffee table.

The top is made of a wonderful green marble (with white traces) that is 1" thick - and extremely heavy!  The marble slab sits on a wood base with nicely tapered legs.

The table offers pleasing proportions at 62" long, 14" deep, and 13 3/4" high.

A gorgeous - and luxurious-looking - piece.

Sold.  Thanks, Andrew and Michelle @ Chicago!  It will look great in the new place!
